Walsh Brothers Celebrates Opening of New Integrated Sciences Complex at UMass Boston

Walsh Brothers is excited to announce the opening of the newly constructed Integrated Sciences Complex (ISC). The ISC is the first "signature" building to be constructed on the UMass Boston campus in the last 40 years, and is an impressive greeting to those who enter the campus. Designed by Goody Clancy and managed by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance the new building includes 220,000 square feet of state-of-the-art student and faculty space. The project provides clean rooms, a vivarium, laboratories, classrooms, offices and conference rooms for multiple academic departments including biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, environmental, earth and ocean science. In addition, the building has an impressive atrium that spans five levels. The project is pursuing LEED Silver certification, and once achieved will be the first building on the campus to achieve such certification. Several sustainable features were constructed as part of the project including solar hot-water panels, reduced flow fixtures, and high efficiency, low-emissions boilers. Walsh Brothers is proud to have served as construction manager on this new state-of the-art building for students, faculty and visitors of UMass Boston.
