Internships

On-the-Job Site Learning.

Walsh Brothers has a year-round internship program hiring multiple students from colleges, universities, and vocational programs throughout New England. Our internships include positions in Construction Operations, Field Engineering, Estimating/BIM, Finance, IT, Marketing, and Administration. More than half of our interns are hired for full-time positions after graduation.

Interns benefit from:

  •   Mentoring by Senior Managers and Training Team
  •   Duties Similar to Full-Time Employees
  •   Opportunity to Take on Special Projects
  •   Construction Internships Located Right On-site of a Major Construction Project
  •   End of Internship Roundup Meeting with Fellow Interns and Executive Team
  •   Competitive Compensation Including Paid Overtime and Holidays
  •   Flexibility in Work Schedule and Length of Internship
  •   Option to Return for Future Internships
  •   Consideration for Full-Time Employment after Graduation
  •   Time Spent with Each Project Team Member to Learn about Each Employee’s Role

Potential construction interns must have an interest in pursuing a future in construction management and demonstrate excellent communication skills, reliability, and commitment. A related course of study is beneficial.

Walsh Brothers regularly attends Spring and Fall college career fairs at area institutions including Wentworth, WPI, Northeastern and UMass schools, among others, and we are happy to consider interns from any accredited institution for a rewarding learning experience with Walsh Brothers.

Qualified internship candidates should apply using one of the below methods:

  •   Visit Walsh Brothers at your school’s career fair.
  •   Seek a referral from a current employee or client.
  •   Forward a resume with cover letter specifying type of internship desired and available dates to hr@walshbrothers.com.

Intern Spotlight

Daniel Goudovitch

“My internship with Walsh Brothers at Klarman Hall gave me a whole new perspective on working in the construction industry and what it’s like to manage a large-scale project with over 30 subcontractors.  My project team was extremely helpful in guiding me through the processes I needed to know in order to be successful as an intern.  I learned so much during this short 3-month internship that I decided to graduate early in order to get back to the same job.  We have since successfully closed out the Klarman Hall project and I am onto new projects in hospital/academic sectors, constantly striving to improve the fundamental strategies and techniques that I learned as an intern.”

“Coming from an architecture background overseas, my internship with Walsh Brothers gave me the opportunity to understand the role of a project manager. The MGH team was a great resource of knowledge and did everything to get me ready for the Assistant Project Manager position after my graduation – my internship truly validated my decision to pursue a career in Construction Management. Now I’m a Project Manager, learning from each unique project, and working every day to do justice to the rich history of Walsh Brothers.”
