Massachusetts General Hospital ED Acute Psychiatric Service

Mass General Brigham

In one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the northeast, the Acute Psychiatry Service (APS) sees over 7,000 patients per year.  The project, completed within the active ED, was expedited to solve an urgent need for APS space in the Emergency Department.  This complex 6,700 square-foot renovation took place in two older buildings (1822 and 1969) on the main hospital campus. The newly renovated space provides 20 private rooms, two nurse stations, and incorporation of ligature-resistant components and complex security systems.
