Yawkey Center for Cancer Care

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

The new 13-story Yawkey Center for Cancer Care provides Dana-Farber with world-class outpatient care and clinical research facilities that serve as the model for cancer centers of the future. Upholding DFCI’s strategic mission of leading-edge “bench to bedside” research principles, this 275,000 square-foot facility leverages evidence-based design principles in creating a collaborative environment, bringing scientific discoveries to the benefits of patients.

“Team-work between the Construction Manager, Owner, Architect and trade Sub-Contractors during all phases of design and construction was a key element to the success of this project.  Walsh Brothers effectively facilitated this team-work, exercising leadership to ensure success.”

Nearly every patient floor of the facility is physically tied to research floors in the existing adjacent laboratory building. Serving as the new entrance to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute campus, the facility accommodates a dramatic growth in demand for outpatient services and clinical research trials within a family-centered care model. This impressive project was the first LEED Gold health care building in Boston.
