Walsh Brothers, Incorporated, a Boston-based construction management firm, is thrilled to announce the Marsh Hall dormitory at Salem State University has been certified Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program. Walsh Brothers is proud to have managed this project which completed construction on schedule and under budget.

Marsh Hall is a 525-bed residence hall containing common lounge spaces, a fitness room, laundry room, game room, conference rooms, and faculty apartments. The five-story steel and masonry structure also includes a 320-seat dining room facility. The project required a fast track schedule as the additional beds were needed for academic year 2010.

LEED® certification is based on nationally-accepted standards met during construction and through building operation. It is a point-based system where points are earned through the use of sustainable materials, construction activity, pollution prevention, layout, building systems as well as other aspects of design and construction that relate to energy conservation and a sustainable environment.

Walsh Brothers, Incorporated is a fourth-generation family-owned construction management firm, headquartered in Boston. The firm, founded in 1901, has built significant projects for many of Boston's finest institutions. To find out more about Walsh Brothers visit us at www.walshbrothers.com.
